Brewery news

After more than a year of planning and construction, the small Nova Scotia village of Tatamagouche is now home to a namesake brewery founded by a family known for their long involvement in the province’s wine industry, Canadian Beer News reported on June 18.

Tatamagouche Brewing is the newest endeavour of Hans Christian Jost, a winemaker who sold his family’s Jost Vineyards in 2012, along with his wife Karen, daughter Christiane, and her partner Matt Kenny.

Located in two buildings – a former library and an adjacent butcher shop – on the village’s Main Street, the brewery opened to the public on June 17th with two beers on offer: Hippie Dippie Pale Ale (“approachable, refreshing, and organic”) and Butcher Block Red (a “crisp red ale” with “bold flavour”). Both beers are available in 1 litre growlers, 650 ml bottles, and 20 litre kegs at the brewery.
