Brewery news

Deschutes Brewery announced on April 7 it will expand distribution to Pittsburgh, PA with Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale Co.

Beginning April 21, Deschutes will initially bring Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Chainbreaker White IPA, and its summer seasonal, Twilight Summer Ale. The beers will be available in 12 oz. bottles and draft.

The OR-based craft brewery began its foray into new East Coast markets last year, when it entered Philadelphia in June. The company has since broadened its footprint in Pennsylvania to include the central and southern regions of the state.

Stacy Denbow, expansion manager for the brewery, said, “What an awesome time to launch into Pittsburgh – right before the kickoff of Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week! And to do so with a great partner in Fuhrer Wholesale Co, a family-owned and operated organization with core values that matched our own. We will join their Craft Beer Division.”

Deschutes Brewery prepared for growing its distribution area over the past few years by increasing their capacity at their main brewing facility to 450,000 barrels. 2014 started off with a launching into Ohio and Kentucky, celebration events are slated for next week’s launch in South Central Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin and Michigan will round out the brewery’s new markets later this year.
