Brewery news

Great Divide Brewing plans to add Oatmeal Yeti to its line up of highly-rated imperial stouts-sought, West Word reported.

"We changed up Yeti," says Great Divide owner Brian Dunn. "We put in a couple thousand pounds of oats per batch in this one, and it is really nice. We also changed up the dark malts, which works really well with the sweetness of the raisins."

Great Divide experimented with five to ten different Yeti flavours before settling on Oatmeal Yeti two months ago. "We tried a couple different kinds of woods and fruits and plants, but we hadn't done one with oatmeal yet, and I think it is a fun grain to brew with," Dunn adds. "Yeti is such an assertive beer that you can modify it a little bit."

Oatmeal Yeti will be a seasonal beer sold in 22-ounce bomber bottles like most of the beers of the same line, including Oak Aged Yeti, Espresso Yeti and Chocolate Yeti. It replaces Belgian Style Yeti in the brewery's line up, a beer that was discontinued earlier this year.

Great Divide brewed four hundred barrels of the new beer, which should hit liquor store shelves sometime in early July.
