Brewery news

River Horse Brewing Co. co-owner Chris Walsh says the company's announced move from Lambertville to Ewing Township, N.J. this spring is nothing personal, it's just business, lehighvalleylive.com reported on January, 11.

The microbrewery's current address on Lambert Lane, the only location it's ever known since opening in 1996, is snug at roughly 10,000-square feet.

Walsh said the new spot is somewhere around 25,000-square feet, or as he puts it, a "totally different ballgame".

Walsh said that within the first 18 months at the new facility, he expects to be producing at a 30 to 40 percent increase over current capacity with the potential to reach much higher yields in time. He said he hopes the new location will be fully operational by the end of March.

With the additional space, Walsh said the Ewing facility will allow for a wider range of brews, particularly River Horse's American-style lager, which he said was difficult to brew in Lambertville due to its characteristically long fermenting process.

"The lager family is now open to us because we'll have the capacity to do it," he said.
