Japan: Asahi Breweries, Ltd., has formulated the Second Asahi Breweries Group Medium-Term Management Plan, incorporating the shared values of "challenges and creation." The aims of this plan are to create strong growth for the future of the Asahi Breweries Group, and to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

The Second Management Plan is a continuation of the First Management Plan, begun in 2000, and will cover the three-year period from 2004 through 2006. In addition to accelerating the achievements of the First Plan, this new plan aims to quickly resolve issues not fully achieved under the first, and through measures implemented over the medium term to address a new set of business issues, build a new growth structure for the Asahi Group and ensure steady growth and development amid a rapidly changing business environment.

Asahi has developed a Group Vision for the final year of the management plan in 2006, and newly formulated medium-term Group strategies to achieve it. Through reform of the business structure and organizational character, we will work to build a new corporate Group with abundant growth potential.

Consolidated performance targets for 2006, the final year of the new medium-term management plan, are the following: 2006 target for Net income is ¥50 billion, 116% more versus 2003 results; by 2006 the company intends to reach net sales of ¥1,660 billion, 19% more versus 2003; operating income is to be ¥115 billion, 46% more versus 2003 . In addition to these, we also plan to achieve ROE of greater than 10%, increasing corporate value.
