Brewery news

New Belgium Brewing, an American craft brewery based in Colorado, has unveiled a new seasonal beer, Frambozen, for the holiday season, Drinks Business Review reported on November, 17.

Frambozen will be available on bar taps and holiday tables through January 2012.

Frambozen takes its name from the Flemish word for raspberries. The beer is inspired by the Framboise beers of Belgium, where the use of raspberries in beer outdates the use of traditional hops. Frambozen has 6.5% ABV.

New Belgium sends delegates to the Pacific Northwest to oversee the process of turning freshly picked berries into a pure juice, which is then loaded into oxygen-free CO2 tanker trucks that return to Colorado.

The company produces a host of Belgian-inspired beers. It produces nine year-round beers including Fat Tire Amber Ale, Sunshine Wheat, Ranger IPA, Belgo IPA, Blue Paddle Pilsner, 1554 Black Ale, Abbey, Mothership Wit and Trippel. Frambozen joins the company's Special Release lineup which includes Old Cherry Ale and Ken's Beer.
