Brewery news

There are four new Toronto breweries set to start pouring beer soon. One of them – Junction Craft Brewing – will be officially launching next week, Canadian Beer News reported on August, 22.

The first beer to be available from the brewery is Conductor’s Craft Ale, which is described by brewmaster Doug Pengelley as follows:

“To design JCB’s flagship brew, I wanted to pay homage to some of the pioneer craft beers of Sierra Pale and Anchor Liberty. I wanted to go for a hop complexity that constantly changes in the glass as it warms up and you drink more. At the same time the beer has to be balanced and drinkable, to allow the drinker to enjoy more than one.”

According to the detailed notes provided by Pengelley on the brewery’s website, the recipe for the beer includes hops from Germany (Tetnanger), Czech Republic (Saaz) and the USA (Nugget, Cascade, Willamette), and 5 different malts.

The public unveiling of Conductor’s Craft Ale will take place at Burger Bar in Toronto’s Kensington Market on Wednesday August 31st from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This will be followed by a pair of tasting events on Thursday September 1st – from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Bohemian Gastropub, and 9:00 PM onward at the Dakota Tavern.
