Brewery news

Namibia’s first microbrewery slid its doors open in Windhoek last week, Informante communicated on July, 9.

Camelthorn Brewing Company, Namibia’s first microbrewery, according to its Chief Executive Officer, Jörg Finkeldey and Master Brewer, Michael Finkeldey, offers discerned beer drinkers an alternative way of appreciating additional locally brewed craft beers.

The exclusive quantities of Camelthorn beers will be distributed to limited geographic areas that include Windhoek, Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, saying that the company cannot afford to compromise its quality for mass production. The beers will sell at 20% more.

“If you want quality and a unique taste, then you must be ready to pay for it,” the CEO said.

The company secured its licence from the Ministry of Trade and Industry in August 2008.
