The Belgian beer maker, Interbrew, has made a bid for a 50% stake in the main Serbian brewing force, Apatin, it was reported on September 5. The company’s shareholders, according to the report on the BETA news agency, approved the bid. Interbrew, currently controls a 9.37% stake in Apatin. The speculation was not commented by Interbrew. However Interbrew said that shareholders in Apatin, were in favour of forging a strategic partnership with the Belgian group. Interbrew acquired its stake in Apatin in May 2002 for about EUR 17 million.
