E-Malt.com News article: Latvia: Increased excise tax on beer to take effect as from February 2009

According to amendments to the Law on Excise Tax that Latvia’s Saeima endorsed in the final reading on November, 14, the excise tax on beer in Latvia will increase from the current LVL 1.30 to LVL 1.45 per 100 liters, the Baltic Course posted on November, 17.

The increase, equal to a half-santim for each 0.5-liter beer bottle, is to take effect as from February, 1, 2009.
