US nationwide beer shipments rose 5.7 percent to 18.4 million barrels in September compared to the same month a year ago, the Beer Institute posted on November, 4.

Shipment data represents shipments from brewers to wholesalers (including imports) within the state or entire U.S. and is the best available proxy for “consumption.

The US Beer Institute is Washington-based brewing trade group that includes St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch.
