Brewery news

The Kosovo Trust Agency (KTA), in charge of the privatization process in Kosovo, is offering for sale the assets of the “Old Brewery” in the western Kosovar city of Peja, Eciks reported February 26. The site is located on the outskirts of the city, about 80 kilometers from the Kosovar capital Prishtina.

The site is divided in two plots. Plot S1 is approximately 8.1ha. Plot S2 is approximately 0.42ha adjacent to the main road and contains three interconnected warehouses (total area 1723 mē), which are in good condition.

The larger plot, S1, contains the buildings and infrastructure of a former sugar factory which has not been operational since 1990. The main production hall is filled with redundant machines only suitable for sale as scrap metal. In addition, there are some redundant concrete pools where the sugar beet used to be washed. The old administration building of the sugar factory is also on this site.

The old Peja Brewery site is in excellent location, less than 40 minutes drive from the Montenegrin border and close to the junction of two main roads that lead to Prishtina and Mitrovica. Adjacent to the site is a customs clearance point and several transport agents.

The newly opened railway line to Prishtina and eventually to Shkup in macedonia is adjacent to the site with the railway station only 500 metres away.

The site has considerable potential as an industrial park or industrial incubator zone and being close to the centre of the city could be used for domestic and retailing buildings subject to planning consent.
