Brewery news

The Vietnam Brewery Limited admitted that it had made the three bottles of fake Heineken beer produced before a consumer protection agency last week but offered no explanation, Thanhnien News reported July 16.

Some unhappy consumers in Quang Ngai province had filed a petition to the Consumer Rights Protection Agency alleging three VBL-made Heineken bottles contained impurities. Besides, one of them carried the label of Dung Quat Brewery instead of VBL.

All three bottles were sold by a VBL-authorized local agent.

At a joint press briefing Monday with the local Market Management Bureau, VBL confessed the bottles had been made at its factory but did not say why it had begun to make fake beer.

Quang Ngai authorities said they would continue to investigate the case.
